To save the bees, we must support the beekeepers.

Beekeepers accepted into our program use our patented PureWave® Cell technology in their hives at no cost. We provide the technology and ongoing apiary support. You share what you observe so, together, we can build the research and help save the bees.

Questions Before You Apply

Simple by design.

The program is intended to fit into the beekeeping work you are already doing.
Does the PureWave® Cell replace my current beekeeping practices?

No. Continue managing your bees as you normally would. The Cell is placed in the hive and works quietly in the background. 4RBEES does not replace or interfere with the practices you trust.

What does it cost to participate?

Beekeepers accepted into the program receive PureWave® Cells at no cost, with ownership retained by the program. Your contribution is consistent monthly video reporting and field observations that help move the research forward. Continued participation also opens opportunities for additional PureWave® Cell allocations at no cost, along with assistance with nucs, bee packages, queen replacements, and organic wildflower seeds.

Why do I need two active hives?

One hive receives the PureWave® Cell and one remains a comparable hive. Observing both in the same environment makes changes easier to see and document.

What should I include in my monthly report?

Begin with your name, location, the date, current weather, and the season or time of year. Show us inside your PureWave® Cell hive, then show us inside your control hive. Using your beekeeper expertise, explain what you are observing and any differences between the two hives in language that a non-beekeeper can understand.

What do I do during winter or when it is unsafe to open the hive?

We never expect you to open a hive when the weather or conditions make it unsafe for the bees. A monthly submission is still required to remain compliant with the program, but no video is required for that month. 

To submit your winter report, enter your beekeeper ID, select the month and year, choose ‘Winter check-in: Unsafe to open hive,’ and submit your report.

Do I have to attend every meeting live?

No. Join live when you can, or watch the replay so you remain up to date with program information and reporting guidance.

Will I receive instructions after I am accepted?

Yes. Every accepted beekeeper receives an orientation that explains placement, the control hive, monthly reporting, meetings, Discord, and where to find all program forms and resources.

How often are applications reviewed?

Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed four times each year: February 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15.

Can I receive more PureWave® Cells or other apiary support?

With consistent participation, you can request additional support during quarterly allocation periods. Support may include PureWave® Cells, nucs, bee packages, queen replacements, and organic wildflower seed as program resources allow.

Is the program open to beekeepers outside the United States?

Yes. We welcome applications from beekeepers in every country. Our goal is to build a worldwide community working together to help bees thrive.
